Chasing the God-Given Dream for your Life

You’ve heard it all before, right?

“Dream Big.” “You can do anything!” “The future is yours!”

But it’s about time we put those words to life. In order to fulfill these “phrases”, we need action rather than just a vision.

For the longest time, I was a dreamer. I would think about the future and the vision I had was HUGE. I had child-like faith that soon faded. With numerous attempts at trying to achieve these dreams, I would fail. The more I failed, the more I altered my dreams to make them “more achievable.”  To make matters worse, I would share these huge dreams I had with faith-lacking people, and they would look at me like I was crazy and tell me reasons to why it would never work. When you have a vision, the world will entertain your “I can’t’s.” The world says “stay in your lane.” But I’m gonna tell you, there are two lanes. The lane that keeps up with traffic or the one that moves ahead of the majority. The decision is yours.

Romans 12:2  Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

This message isn’t just for people who want to pursue their dream. There are a lot of people that just don’t know what God’s perfect will is for you. It wasn’t until the past year my vision became clear and that was through a lot of prayer and giving total submission to God. Matthew 6:33 says “ But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” God promises to give you the desires of your heart, and when He says that, He doesn’t mean He will give you the desires you put there yourself, he means HE will PUT the desires in your heart for His perfect will. God has a plan for every one of us and if you ask him, he will reveal it to you.

When God puts a desire or vision in your heart, he doesn’t just put it there to entertain you. He puts it there to be fulfilled. Often people will have a vision of what they want to do, and then sit back and wait for a miracle to happen and say “I’m just trusting God.”  Well guess, what. Faith without works is dead.

Let’s pretend for a minute.

Say you have been wanting and praying for, I don’t know, lets say a BBQ. I decide to bless you with a brand new BBQ.  I give it to you and you are looking at the front of the box which shows a picture of the BBQ. You have a vision of what it will be once you put it together. You open the box. The pieces and tools are all laid out for you. You also have a manual.  You now have two options. You can either stare at it and pray for a miracle to happen that it will somehow put itself together, or you can use the tools and manual provided to make this come to life. Common sense says you will use the tools given to assemble the BBQ.

It is the exact same in life.  When God gives you a vision, He supplies you with the tools you will need to achieve it.

God has given you a Manual– The Bible.

God has given you Tools– Strength, Faith, Wisdom, etc.

And now its your job to fight for it.

In Genesis 13:14, God said to Abraham ” Look around from where you are, to the north and south, to the east and west.” Then He said, “Now go walk through the length and breadth of the land, for I am giving it to you.”  God gave him a clear vision of what was to be his, but he didn’t say sit there and it will come to you. He said get up, get moving, and it will be YOURS!

When believing for something, it isn’t enough to just think it. We need to speak it! Jesus says “That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he says shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he says.”

I challenge you – even if your situation doesn’t seem too promising, or if you have lost hope,  renew your mind with God’s word, take action, and stand by His promises and see what happens.  Just remember that it doesn’t matter where you are in life, how old you are, what your past is, or how impossible or how dead your circumstances may seem at the moment, because we have a God who gives life to the dead!

Romans 4:17 As it is written, “I have made you the father of many nations.” Abraham acted in faith when he stood in the presence of God, who gives life to the dead and calls into existence things that don’t yet exist.
